This room is named for Mary E. Murphy Taylor who was the daughter of Maurice G. ("Dr. Pat") and Ermell Porter Murphy. She was born February I, 1910, and died May 31, 1996. She married Frank H. Taylor in 1933, and one son, Thomas W., was born to them. Mary graduated from Morgantown High School in 1927. She received her degrees from Indiana University and taught school for 31 years in Center Grove, Morgantown and Martinsville. Her love of Morgantown and history prompted her to collect facts and stories enabling her to write a weekly column for "The Martinsville Daily Reporter". These columns were in publication for five years.
